If you are looking for a peaceful day out with a purpose, the National Garden Scheme’s Open Gardens offer the perfect escape and every visit helps support carers across the UK. The National Garden Scheme has been an important supporter of unpaid carers, having donated £450,000 to Carers Trust in 2025.
With gardens open across the country throughout the summer, September, October and beyond, it is a chance to explore stunning spaces, enjoy a slice of cake, and know your visit is helping someone caring for a loved one. All for a small entry fee, typically around £5-£10.
It is a simple yet powerful way to show your support while enjoying something special for yourself. Find a garden near you that is open this summer.

Have a garden, balcony, or outdoor space? Here’s another way to help
If you are a supporter of Carers Trust and you happen to have a garden, balcony or any outdoor space, here is a lovely way to support to the National Garden Scheme, a partner and great supporter of unpaid carers over many years.
The National Garden Scheme has launched The Big British Garden Survey, and your response would mean the world to them. It is simple to take part. Just note down the butterflies and insects you spot and anything else you notice outdoors.
It takes just a few minutes and every response helps build a national picture of wildlife across the UK. The survey runs until the end of September 2026.
