Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our complementary therapies and face-to-face counselling sessions have been suspended. Volunteer counsellors are delivering carers counselling sessions remotely for the foreseeable future. For more information or to join the waiting list for counselling contact the adult carers support team on 020 8867 2380 or email email@example.com. Updates and opportunities will be posted on this page and in the monthly digital newsletter.
In the meantime, feel free to access the six-week online movement for wellbeing course available at the bottom of this page.
Being a carer means you often put other people first and don’t attend to the basic needs of relaxation and stress-relief until they have become a problem. Richmond Carers Centre has a number of volunteer therapists currently offering massage under our complementary therapies service. This service relies on volunteers so the therapies we offer are dependent on their qualifications. The service provides carers with the opportunity to unwind and take time away from the demands of their caring role. There is currently a waiting list for this service.
It can sometimes be difficult to talk to friends and family about your needs as a carer, even the most supportive of social networks may not be able to give you the right type of support to help you in your caring role. And often if they could many carers feel they don’t wish to burden the people around them. We offer carers the opportunity to talk in a friendly, confidential environment with a qualified or trainee counsellor, to help you explore your thoughts and feelings away from your immediate everyday surroundings. There is currently a waiting list for this service.
Free Stretch and Chill Video sessions
Delivered by POINT 3 Wellbeing as Part of Carers Wellbeing Programme 2020, the below six sessions are free for carers to access and will remain so permanently via these links. The sessions are 30 minutes long and use gentle exercise and mobility to help improve physical and mental health and wellbeing. They are suitable for all ages and abilities.
We aim to provide additional wellbeing activities when we are able to secure funding to do so. For example, last year we ran two ten-week blocks of yoga sessions for carers.
If you have a qualification in a wellbeing activity, complementary therapy or counselling and would like to volunteer with Richmond Carers Centre, please call the support team on 020 8867 2380 or CLICK HERE to email us.
