Complementary Therapies

Being a carer means you often put other people first and don’t attend to the basic needs of relaxation and stress-relief until they have become a problem. Richmond Carers Centre has a number of volunteer therapists currently offering massage under our complementary therapies service. This service relies on volunteers so the therapies we offer are dependent on their qualifications. The service provides carers with the opportunity to unwind and take time away from the demands of their caring role. There is currently a waiting list for this service.

Counselling

It can sometimes be difficult to talk to friends and family about your needs as a carer, even the most supportive of social networks may not be able to give you the right type of support to help you in your caring role. And often if they could many carers feel they don’t wish to burden the people around them. We offer carers the opportunity to talk in a friendly, confidential environment with a qualified or trainee counsellor, to help you explore your thoughts and feelings away from your immediate everyday surroundings. There is currently a waiting list for this service.

Free Stretch and Chill Video sessions

Delivered by POINT 3 Wellbeing as Part of Carers Wellbeing Programme 2020, the below six sessions are free for carers to access and will remain so permanently via these links. The sessions are 30 minutes long and use gentle exercise and mobility to help improve physical and mental health and wellbeing. They are suitable for all ages and abilities.

Wellbeing Activities

We aim to provide additional wellbeing activities when we are able to secure funding to do so. For example, last year we ran two ten-week blocks of yoga sessions for carers.
