The University of Liverpool is inviting unpaid carers and people living with dementia to participate in a vital research project. Led by researcher Marco Brigiano, this study aims to understand how stigma and public attitudes impact the daily lives of those affected by dementia.
Why this research matters
Many people living with dementia and their families face unique challenges, including being misunderstood or judged by others. These experiences can often lead to social isolation or make it more difficult to seek the help and support needed. The core goal of this project is to provide a platform for these voices, ensuring that lived experiences directly inform and improve future care and social connections.
Who is it for
The research team is looking for participants from three specific groups:
- People currently living with dementia
- Unpaid carers or family members who support someone with dementia
- Adults aged 65 years or older who do not have cognitive impairment
What is involved
Taking part is designed to be straightforward and accessible. Participants will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, which typically takes between 15 and 20 minutes. This can be done online or during a face to face session.
The questions focus on your personal experiences, social life and how you go about seeking help. While some topics may be sensitive, the research team emphasises that participation is entirely voluntary. You are free to pause or stop at any time without having to provide a reason. All information shared is confidential and will be handled with strict security.
How to participate
Your contribution can help raise awareness and ensure that research makes a tangible difference to the lives of families across the country.
If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more about the study, please contact Marco Brigiano at the University of Liverpool by emailing Brigiano@liverpool.ac.uk.
