Men’s Sheds seek to tackle the isolation that men in particular can feel from such losses as unemployment, children moving away or the death of a partner. Plans are now well advanced for a Men’s Shed in Barnes, located by the London Wetland Centre car park. Whereas garden sheds and their accompanying activities are often solitary in nature, the growing national network of Men’s Sheds is about social connections, friendship-building, sharing skills and knowledge, and of course a lot of laughter.
