We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate a double victory at the 2026 TCS London Marathon. Two members of the Richmond Carers Centre family; supporter Edouard Guidon and our very own staff member, Georgia Griffiths, braved the heat to conquer 26.2 miles for our carer community.
Edouard’s fundraising triumph
Despite the unexpectedly warm and sunny weather, Edouard powered through the challenging conditions to cross the finish line. We are delighted to announce that he has not only met but exceeded his fundraising target, raising £1,148 so far.
A particularly moving moment occurred just before the race, when an anonymous donation from someone who has benefited from the Centre’s support pushed Edouard over his goal.
“I realise that the funds are a drop in the ocean in terms of the needs of the charity,” Edouard said, “but I hope that they will enable you to make a bit of extra difference to the lives of people you support.”
For a local charity like ours, these funds are vital. Every pound goes directly toward providing lifelines, peer support, and wellbeing activities for unpaid carers.
Georgia goes the distance
Adding to the celebrations, our colleague Georgia Griffiths also completed the iconic course. While Georgia chose to focus on the physical challenge this year rather than fundraising, her dedication to the cause she works for every day was her primary motivation.
“Seeing the resilience of the carers we support daily was what kept me moving when the temperature started to rise. It was an incredible atmosphere, and I’m so proud to have been inspired by carers out there on the streets of London.”
A heartfelt thank you
Whether running to raise funds or running to show solidarity, both Edouard and Georgia have shown incredible commitment. From everyone at Richmond Carers Centre, and the many families your efforts will help, thank you both.
