Princess Alice Hospice is inviting unpaid carers and families to join a supportive rolling programme designed to help navigate the emotional and practical challenges of caring for a loved one with a life limiting illness.
This comprehensive series of discussions offers a safe space for carers to share their concerns and gain valuable insights from others in similar situations. The programme features expert guidance from a Senior Palliative Care nurse and staff from Enhanced Support services who are available to answer specific questions regarding end of life care.
About Princess Alice Hospice
Princess Alice Hospice provides a wide range of specialist support for carers and family members of people living with a life limiting illness. Their services recognise that caring can be emotionally demanding and that families and carers need support in their own right, both during a person’s illness and after a death. Richmond Carers Centre works alongside organisations such as Princess Alice Hospice to help carers access appropriate, compassionate and timely support.

Programme Details
The sessions run at the same time as the social morning at the Wellbeing Centre. This allows carers whose loved ones are already supported by the Wellbeing Team to participate while the patient attends their own session.
Each week focuses on a different aspect of the care journey, including:
- Supporting someone who is seriously ill and maintaining quality of life
- Coping with the emotional impact of a life limiting diagnosis
- Mindfulness practices led by a Senior Healthcare Practitioner
- Advice on aids and adaptations for the home
- Future planning and practical care tips
- Understanding what to expect as a person becomes less well
Who is it for
This programme is open to anyone supporting someone with a life limiting illness. Importantly, the person being cared for does not need to be a patient of Princess Alice Hospice for their carer to attend these sessions.
Previous participants have described the workshops as instrumental and empowering, providing a comfortable atmosphere to discuss difficult feelings and gain access to invaluable support services.
