SUPPORTING VOLUNTARY SECTOR ORGANISATIONS IN LBRUT TO DELIVER AN EVENT/ACTIVITY FOR UNPAID CARERS DURING CARERS WEEK 10 – 16 JUN.

We want to support and encourage local voluntary sector organisations to, during Carers Week 2024 or through the month of June, deliver a small event or activity focusing on unpaid adult carers that has an element of physical activity and or healthy eating, promotes social inclusion, reduces social isolation and loneliness. We also want to support you to celebrate and recognise unpaid carers within your organisational reach.

We hope this opportunity will benefit unpaid carers in a number of ways
  • Help to reduce social isolation and loneliness through hosting creative events (eg giving carers an opportunity to share healthy food / participate in a physical activity)
  • Increase opportunities to be recognised and identified as a carer in range of environments
  • Have the opportunity to have a break and meet other carers / form new relationships
  • Have the opportunity to engage in an activity that would support their physical and emotional wellbeing
By engaging local Voluntary Sector organisations in the delivery of specific offer for unpaid carers it should
  • Raise awareness and understanding of the needs of unpaid carers, from all different backgrounds, and help stimulate local carer friendly services and communities.
  • Help providers to actively recognise and identify unpaid carers and provide them with information about options for supportHelp organisations think about how their services can better support the needs of unpaid carers
