Report highlights Richmond Carers Centre’s commitment to continuous improvement
Richmond Carers Centre has been fully accredited at the Progression level of the Improving Quality Standard, which is the highest level of the framework. The external assessor found that Richmond Carers Centre meets every requirement across all four elements of the Standard:
- Accountable: Good governance, leadership and management
- Welcoming: Involving service users, managing and developing staff and volunteers, equality and diversity and working with others
- Effective: Refers to the services that an organisations provides and the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation that the organisations carries out
- Sustainable: How the organisation manages, risk, money and the resources to make service delivery happen

The report highlights that Richmond Carers Centre is very well governed, managed and guided by clear strategic planning. Trustees bring valuable knowledge and experience and are actively engaged in ensuring strong oversight and forward planning. Staff and volunteers were described as passionate, knowledgeable and deeply committed. Their dedication and belief in the organisation’s values came through strongly during interviews.
The assessment found that support for staff and volunteers is excellent, with strong induction, ongoing training, regular supervision and many opportunities to share ideas and shape services. Feedback from carers is gathered in many ways and is used effectively to improve services. The assessor noted that Richmond Carers Centre delivers services that meet identified needs and has a very positive impact on the lives of carers.
The organisation was praised for its strong partnerships with local and national organisations, particularly through the Carers Hub Service. It was also recognised for thoughtful business planning, effective monitoring and evaluation and sound financial management. Risk management, safeguarding and information governance were all found to be thorough and well implemented.
The assessor identified several particular strengths, including the positive culture, strong leadership, excellence in training and the organisation’s commitment to continuous improvement. Richmond Carers Centre was commended for its thoughtful approach to developing its new business plan and making improvements following the previous Quality Assurance assessment in 2022.
The report concludes with a clear recommendation that Richmond Carers Centre should be awarded accreditation at the Progression level.
