Research participants are needed to help with a study exploring the perspectives of carers regarding the use of the fidgetbum as a sensory-based intervention to facilitate sleep participation among older adults with dementia.

About the research
Madelaine Read, a Master’s student currently studying Occupational Therapy at Brunel University. Madelaine in the process of conducting a research study for her dissertation involving the implementation of a device known as the fidgetbum. The fidgetbum is a patented sleep aid used by occupational therapist for children with sensory needs. As the researcher, Madelaine is exploring the views of carers of people with dementia regarding the use of the fidgetbum to maintain quality of sleep in older people with dementia that they care for. In the future (date to be determined), Madelaine will be holding a short focus group (30 minutes) via Microsoft Teams to interview carers.
What to expect:
- You will be invited to take part in an online focus group via Microsoft Teams.
- You will shown a demonstrative video of the fidgetbum.
- You will be able to discuss the potential benefits, limitations and threats of the fidgetbum.
Who is it for?
- Carers of older people with dementia
- With at least 6 months experience caring for older adults with dementia
- Must be at least 18 years old
