Richmond Moves

Healthwatch Richmond Moves banner. Move more. every day, your wayRichmond Borough is running a campaign to get everyone moving more so that we all live happy and healthy lives, with tips and information about starting or increasing physical activity for better health. This has been in response to Healthwatch Richmond‘s report on Healthy Living.

Responses to Healthwatch Richmond’s survey about staying active included the views that gym membership and exercise classes are unaffordable, or difficult to access, or family and work pressures don’t leave time (or energy) for regular exercise. RichmondCouncil listened and put in place actions directly responding to people’s needs.

Fitness assessment

What is Metabolic age testing?

Metabolic age testing is not a medical based exam and results are completely fitness based, as it compares the individual’s basic metabolic rate against their actual age.

If higher, it indicates that the individual would benefit from reducing body fat and increasing muscle mass as these two components directly increase basic metabolic rate.

What will the Fitness Assessment involve?

As part of the fitness assessment the fitness instructor will conduct the following tests:

  • Weight, fat percentage and visceral fats
  • Resting heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Vo2 max test (three-minute step test)
  • Shoulder mobility
  • Posterior chain mobility
  • Ankle mobility
  • Overhead squat

Free 7-day Pass

Upon completion of the Fitness Assessment, Carers are invited to use the Leisure Centre free for 7 days. This includes access to the gym, classes, and swimming.
Please note, an induction and a completed pre-exercise questionnaire is required before using the gym.

The last date 7-day pass can be activated is Monday 15th July 2024.
