I was a carer for my parents, both of whom experienced periods of frailty and ill health towards the end of their lives. I understand how challenging it is to maintain a fragile network of informal support and to find good quality paid care and support when needed. I have worked in the NHS, housing and social care both as an employee and an external consultant and know how difficult it can be to understand services and get help. I am aware of the risk that carers leave it too late to ask for help and how valuable it is to get information, advice and support at the right time.

I decided to become a trustee to support the work of Richmond Carers Centre in providing high quality, responsive and compassionate services to the local community both directly and through its lead role in the Carers Hub.
