Unpaid carers often face significant physical and emotional demands. To support the well-being of those in our community, a new NHS accredited Yoga 4 Health programme is launching this April at The Elleray Centre in Teddington.
This inclusive ten week course is specifically designed for adults experiencing higher levels of physical inactivity due to lifestyle related diseases or mental health challenges. It offers a supportive environment for individuals managing conditions such as pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, mild to moderate stress, anxiety, low mood and depression. It is also an excellent opportunity for those facing social isolation or at risk of cardiovascular disease to reconnect with others.
What to expect
Each session is structured to provide a holistic approach to health and includes:
- Breathing Techniques: Fifteen minutes of psycho-education focusing on calming and restorative breathing methods
- Accessible Yoga: Forty five minutes of yoga practice using props such as chairs, blocks and blankets to ensure comfort for all ability levels
- Social Connection: Thirty minutes of dedicated time in the cafe to foster community and friendship
All activities can be modified to meet individual access needs, ensuring every participant feels comfortable and supported throughout the session.
