Are you unsure what should happen after a hospital visit or hospital stay? Many unpaid carers tell us that hospital discharge can feel confusing, rushed or unclear, especially when they are expected to support someone at home.
Kingston Hospital is hosting a free online workshop for unpaid carers to help improve understanding of the hospital discharge process and how carers can be involved.
About the workshop
The Understanding Hospital Discharge workshop is designed to support unpaid carers by explaining what to expect when someone is being discharged from hospital. It will cover carers’ rights, how discharge planning works and how carers can advocate for the person they care for to help ensure a safe and appropriate discharge.
This workshop will help you to:
- Understand the hospital discharge process
- Know what support carers are entitled to
- Feel more confident asking questions and raising concerns
- Learn how to be involved in decisions about treatment and care
There will also be time to ask questions, share experiences and give feedback.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for unpaid carers who support someone who has been in hospital or may need hospital care in the future. You do not need any prior knowledge to take part.
Please feel free to share this workshop with other unpaid carers who may benefit from attending.
