Age UK Richmond provide a subsidised handyperson for older people, unpaid carers and those with long-term disabilities and will complete small jobs that other tradesmen may not. A further discounted rate is available for older people in receipt of pension credit.
What can a handyperson from Age UK Richmond help with?
The handyperson service is designed to help and keep older and vulnerable people living independently and safely at home, by delivering minor adaptations and repairs, such as:
- Change taps/basic plumbing
- Electrics; change plugs/light fittings/fuses/basic repairs
- Basic window repairs, hinges, handles
- Fitting spy holes/door chains
- Putting up shelves, blinds, curtain rails
- Hanging pictures/mirrors
- Assembling flat pack furniture
- Fitting key safes
- Fitting grab rails
- Replacing toilet seats
- Moving furniture
- Changing lightbulbs
The handyperson always carries Age UK Richmond ID and will have all the necessary tools to complete the job.
How much will it cost?
This is a subsidised service for those over 65, unpaid carers and those with long term disabilities. The low rate is £30 an hour plus materials, or £20 an hour plus materials for older people in receipt of pension credit. The handyperson will also complete some smaller jobs free of charge like changing light bulbs.
Age UK Richmond can accept payment by cash or cheque. Kindly be advised that Age UK Richmond are currently unable to process card payments due to a technical issue.
Cancellation fee
If you wish to cancel a visit, please contact us as soon as possible. A cancellation fee of £15 will be charged for any visit cancelled within 24 hours.
